Expressive Arts

Expressive Arts gives our key stage three students a chance to build their confidence, and allows them to develop the skills to become a more confident performer.  We look at drama as a basis, but use elements of music, dance, creative writing and art to really understand what the expressive arts are all about.  Students will learn performance techniques, along with the reasoning behind what makes an effective performance.  This creative and practical knowledge builds towards GCSE Drama in key stage four.  Following the Edexcel course, we learn how to write and create our own piece of creative devised work, how to interpret a written text, and put our own performance skills to the test when we take a play from page to stage.

Additionally, the Expressive Arts department is responsible for the annual school production.  In previous years, we have seen our incredibly talented students take to the stage to perform productions of Bugsy MaloneHigh School MusicalWe Will Rock You, and most recently Legally Blonde.  Many of our students - both on stage and behind the scenes - have gone on to study different elements of Expressive Arts having been a part of these productions, and we welcome anyone who is interested to come and be a part of the show.
