World Book Day 2017
Orchards Academy celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March and it was a terrific day for all involved. Scores of students were ‘caught reading’ around the school in break and lunchtime which was lovely to see. Even Mrs Willbourn was ‘caught reading’ a text about Penguins in the canteen and was eager to share her new-found knowledge! Students had fun guessing the hidden identities of the English staff and also listened to a short story, ‘The Sound of Thunder’ which was broken down into five instalments across the day. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable day and it was fantastic to see and hear so many students talking about reading around the school. Many thanks to all the staff who were involved and particularly the English department and the Library for helping the day come together. Today a Reader; Tomorrow a Leader!
