Parkour

Several YR 7 students took part in a visit to the new Medway Parks Parkour center located at the Strand in Gillingham.

 

Athletics

On Tuesday 11th June Orchards Academy took part in a district Athletics fixture, overall the girls managed to finish in 3rd place and the YR 7 boys team finished in 6th position. 

Standout performances were 1st in the 800m girls and 100m boys, 2nd place in the Javelin and the Yr 7 boys relay team came first.

Kent County Cricket

 

On Tuesday 11th June 12 Orchards Academy students attended the Kent County Cricket fixture v Somerset, throughout the day the students had the opportunity to watch some first class Cricket alongside getting involved in a coached session and several Cricket related activities. All enjoyed the experience and learned several new skills throughout the day. 

 

TKAT Games 21.05.19

The Orchards Academy Athletics team took part in the TKAT games on Tuesday 21st May at Lea Valley Athletics Centre.

 

All students performed well and several made it through to the finals of their event.

 

Standout performances came from the following students:

Year 7 boys 4 x 100m relay - 3rd place, 

Year 8 boys 4 x 100m relay - 4th place,

Connor Fairclough, Year 9 Javelin- 3rd place,
Lexie Johnson, Year 7 100m - 3rd place,
Tamzin Doody, Year 8 200m - 2nd place.
 
Two Orchards students managed to gain first place and receive a gold medal:
Fern Partington, Year 9 Girls Long Jump - 1st place,
Alex, Year 10 Boys 100m -1st place.

Year 8 Rounders 14.05.19

Well done to the YR 8 girls Rounders team who competed at the district tournament on 14.05.19.

The team played well throughout and were involved in a very good competition with other local secondary schools finishing fourth overall.

Handball 07.02.19

U13 girls played in the finals for Handball on Thursday (7th February). They did really well and came second in their table. The went on to lose the bronze medal match but still did really well and came 4th out of 8.

16.01.19

 

12 girls from Years 8-11 competed in a Handball tournament run by Kent School Games at Ebbsfleet Academy.  The U15 unfortunately didn't win but learnt so much from their first experience of Handball. The U13 won all 3 of the games and move forward into the finals at Medway Park in February. Well done girls.

09.01.19

Well done to the boys U 15 Handball team who played against Ebbsfleet on 09.01.19, as a result of this they have been selected to represent the district at the Kent School games at the end of January. Congratulations on this achievement. 

 

04.12.18

 

The Yr 10 Football team played KTC on 04.12.18, the game was played under lights at Orchards the final score was 3 -3 and the game went to penalties, the winning penalty was scored by Calum Hawkes for Orchards. 

 

03.12.18

The U13 Rugby team played their third match against KTC on 03.12.18, playing in heavy rain some very promising Rugby was played by both sets of players. Both schools have been involved in the All Schools Rugby programme. The game itself was played in the right spirit and players from both teams have been invited to join the local Rugby clubs at both Swanley RFC and Sidcup RFC. 

 

Football 27.11.18

The Yr 8 Football team managed an impressive win by 2 -1 against St George's School. By scoring a goal in each half and then conceding a late penalty the boys managed to defend their lead for the final few minutes to record a very good result. They now look forward to their home game next week against Thamesview School. 

Rugby- 12.11.18

The U 13 Rugby team played KTC on 12.11.18 in another closely fought match between two even teams. Orchards managed to run out winners by 6 - 4. The game was played in an excellent manner and both sets of players enjoyed the fixture. 

Rugby- 15.10.18

Well done to the  U13 Rugby team who played at KTC in a development game on Monday 15th October. The game was very evenly matched and all players who took part enjoyed the fixture.
